Réalisée durant la pandémie de COVID-19, cette œuvre questionne la place de l’artiste dans une société où la culture se trouvait mise à l’arrêt. Inspiré de l’œuvre éponyme de Courbet, ce dessin au crayon associe un autoportrait fragmenté à une forme organique, créant un dialogue entre présence et effacement. Conçue pour l’espace public, l’œuvre invite le spectateur à une observation attentive afin d’en révéler toute la portée.

Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, this work questions the place of the artist in a society where cultural activity had come to a standstill. Inspired by Courbet’s eponymous work, this pencil drawing combines a fragmented self-portrait with an organic form, creating a dialogue between presence and disappearance. Conceived for the public realm, the work invites viewers to engage in close observation in order to fully grasp its significance.
